A collaboration of the Institute for Research in Art and Design, Academy of Art and Design, UAS Northwestern Switzerland, BIRD (Board of International Research in Design) and Birkhäuser.
Designers enact and shape the realities as they are in the present, and they create and realize new realities and future possibilities. Designers work on the contingency of the world as it is and explore the world as it could be. It is this designerly way of knowing and acting, which is at the core of the BIRD Design Research Symposium 2008 in Basel, bringing together experienced designers and distinguished researchers from various disciplines.

The Academy of Art and Design, UAS Northwestern Switzerland (FHNW) in Basel, BIRD and the publishing house Birkhäuser invite you to the first BIRD Symposium about research in design called «Creating New Realities Today» held on the 4th and 5th of April 2008 at the Campus of the Academy.
The symposium is free of charge and there is no need for registration.
